C-Span Host Susan slips and says: "Our Call in Line for * Republican Officials* is..."

and then she corrected and said "..uh number for Republicans is...." :D I wonder if her "slip" was intentional that Repug Callers are all Repug Officials!

Rebecca Carr from Cox Newspapers is on and she's really good in explaining the whole USA Firing, btw. And Susan Swain C-Span host has been reading all the articles from the papers that aren't favorable to Gonzales which is unusual since we are so used to articles from Washington Times and WSJ which trash Dems.

5. Typical Repugs saying "Clinton fired all ....." its all Politics" yadda, yadda, but Rebecca
Carr was excellent in answering the RW. There were a few good Dem callers who supported her.

She's very quiet and well spoken in explaining why Dems are investigating looking for the truth of what happened and she made it plain that Dems didn't start the inquiries but supporters of the USA's that were fired when a caller said it was all a partisan witch hunt by the Dems.

She got in Lam firing over Cunningham and Foggo from CIA being investigated as possibly shutting an ongoing investigation and Inglesias and the rest.

She kept answering...the "Why is this important?" with that "it's an issue of investigating whether USA's were fired for improper reasons." She made it clear it was "bi-partisan" investigations and not just Democrats.

3. She's been C-SPAN's biggest Repub operative for years
I remember C-SPAN under Reagan, and the only people she would even talk to were Repubs.

4. I thought the Cox employee was horribly partisan. She referred to

the Democrats as 'detractors'. Her answers were loaded with sentences that made it sound like Democrats were doing this for politicss rather than doing this for 'justice', 'law', determining wrong-doing - which is their job. I was outraged. Interesting how we all see things differently.

10. Her delivery gave the appearance of neutrality - her choice of
explaining was a grand missed opportunity to phrase things in justice. What the heck is the Judiciary Committee trying to detract from? I did n't expect to speak out about it or I wuld have made some notes. politicizing detracting that's what she said we were doing

For 6 Years-BUSH Admin Tried To Curb Election Turnout In Key States To Bolster GOP

Administration tried to curb election turnout in key states

Campaign against alleged voter fraud sought to bolster the GOP

By Greg Gordon Mcclatchy-tribune Originally published April 19, 2007

WASHINGTON: For six years, the Bush administration, aided by Justice Department political appointees, has pursued an aggressive legal effort to restrict voter turnout in key battleground states in ways that favor Republican political candidates, according to former department lawyers and a review of written records.
The administration intensified its efforts last year as President Bush's popularity and Republican support eroded heading into a midterm battle for control of Congress, which the Democrats won.

Facing nationwide voter registration drives by Democratic-leaning groups, the administration alleged widespread election fraud and endorsed proposals for tougher state and federal voter identification laws. Presidential political adviser Karl Rove alluded to the strategy in April 2006 when he railed about voter fraud in a speech to the Republican National Lawyers Association.

.........................

On virtually every significant decision affecting election balloting since 2001, the division's Voting Rights Section has come down on the side of Republicans, notably in Florida, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Washington and other states where recent elections have been decided by narrow margins.

Joseph Rich, who left his job as chief of the section in 2005, said these events formed an unmistakable pattern. "As more information becomes available about the administration's priority on combating alleged, but not well substantiated, voter fraud, the more apparent it is that its actions concerning voter ID laws are part of a partisan strategy to suppress the votes of poor and minority citizens," he said.

8. C-SPAN "Balance"
The number of calls on the Repugnican line: 10...the number on the independent line: 15...number on Democratic lines: 30+. Now guess who goes first and always gets an equal rotation? It goes 1 repugnican, 1 independent, 1 repugnican, 1 Democrat, 1 repugnican...risne & repeat.

I've long shown examples of GOOP astroturfing on this show. No easier way to get a talking point out than here...it goes unfiletered and unquestioned...then it's picked up by the hate radio shows with the "some say" game...by the evening, it's all but spewing out of Tweety's piehole.
