If Hasan was *really* a terrorist, then had he been given a discharge, this still would've happened |

or worse.
Right?
I seriously, seriously doubt this would have been the case. But getting a right-wingnut to understand that is right up there on the list of impossible tasks.

1. Who knows? But broadbrushing Muslim people with enmity certainly won't help. |

7. No. It was murder-suicide. |
|
That's a different thing. He wanted to be remembered in the worst way.

But it was the impending deployment that set him off. I don't think there's much debate that he was unfit for any type of duty.

5. I think this tragedy will force the military to rethink similar situations as Hasan's in the future. |

6. If he really was an AQ terrorist then he probably wouldn't have been begging the army to let him go |
|
would he? He'd have quietly mustered out to the Malabar Front with his unit, and exploded a belt bomb when he was around a high ranking officer, or something like that.

8. If he were really a terrorist |

he would have targeted civilians. That's the definition of terrorism, you know.

12. he's far worse than a terrorist |
|
i think there are few acts more evil than turning on your own countrymen and fellow soldiers.
i agree that he is not a terrorist.
he's a murderer, and a piece of refuse

13. All of that and likely insane, to boot. Just not a terrorist. |
|
The Islamic extremists seem to have picked up on what the army missed: the man was crazy.

14. i am agnostic on the insane issue |
|
based on his lucidity in his presentation on islam for instance (he even quoted the bin laden quote about 'we love death more than you love life"), and all his other behaviors, etc.
imo, the bulk of the evidence points towards sanity, so i lean that way. but no belief either way.
