What kind of subsidies would the Duggars receive under the new HCR plan? |
|
If you want to make a moral argument about what's covered/not covered in the plan, the Quiverfull Clan is a prime example. You choose to bring 19 kids into the world - in the name of religion - and expect us to foot the bill? At my previous employer, we were all covered individually, and you could buy-in for your family. It was the same payroll deduction whether you had one kid or 19. We were priced out of that option and went with an individual plan for my wife and daughter.
So what in the bill protects us Zero Population Growthers from footing the bill for the Quiverfulls?

2. Quiverfuls and their like are a tiny fraction of the population. |

There are always going to be extremes in every situation. It's so Libertarianish to deny the general population the help they need because a few kooks might benefit too. This is the United States of America. You can't tell people how many children they can have and it is inhumane to make children suffer because of their parents poor decisions.
Or would you prefer that we just let the last 17 children suffer without medical care. Maybe a few could die in the process and then your "responsibly" sized family can rest easy.

The Right (and Stupak) want to de-incentivinze abortion in the bill. Their basis is a moral arguement. Stupak says women can purchase an abortion rider under his plan, so it's not affecting choice.
If that stands, can't a moral arguement be made about population growth - and de-incentivizing that in a plan? It's not limiting the number of kids a person can have, but it's a deterrent from having more than you're able to support.

6. That is not "rephrasing" your original post at all. |
|
Blaming people who CHOOSE to have a large family (for whatever reason) for sucking up your health care is a far cry from arguing for abortion coverage in the Health Care Bill.

4. by judging other people's decisions you would then want to deny |
|
care to
alcoholics the obese smokers drug addicts people who engage in risky sexual activity etc..
Why should people who don't fit those categories pay for their care?
I say we include everyone.
As for your comment on the Quiverfull folks, not everyone is insane enough to bring that many children into the world. Even those who think they want a big family typically are convinced otherwise when the second, or third child's arrival convinces them otherwise.

Then use our voices to make fun of the Duggars. I make it a habit to always express my extreme revulsion at the Duggars and all disgusting people like them, but they should have health care like everyone else. Hopefully the kids will wake up, get psychological help for the after effects of being raised by those people, and live more typical and planet-friendly lives.
