What happened to Specter's eye?

For those not watching the Gonzo hearing, Specter's left eye is blood-red, not bloodshot but almost seeming to be gone. Does anyone know if he's having health issues?

can be caused by a strain or a sneeze. depends on the strenght of the vessel. if this is the case, it will clear up.

or another related eye disease. This is a fairly new treatment, and sometimes the needle hits an artery. The "bloody" look takes about three weeks to go away.
