5. I think Redneck S. makes some excellent points.

If you want to really have this discussion or keep your OP on the first page for better likelihood of reading, you might want to revise the tone of your post. Besides, we're all on the same page on so many issues. Let's not let one issue tear us apart.

(BTW, I'm a former gun owner, but not now with small kids in the house.)

I think you made some excellent points, but it was rather harsh-reading.

We all have issues that get us really worked up. I'm hoping DU can stay on an even keel through these discussions as we agree on more than we disagree on.

7. My fear is that only Repubs have guns.

Since gun laws are never going to be restricted because the South and Midwest are so gun-loving and the NRA is so strong, I would encourage all Democrats to have a minimum of one semi-automatic handgun and a semi-automatic AK-47 with several preloaded magazines nearby.

It really unnerves me to think of so many guns and rifles in Rethug households. We must join the Arms Race despite the insanity of it. I will feel much more secure about it then. Make a difference. Get guns and rifles. Be bold and bad.
