Yes, a lunatic went crazy and killed a bunch of people but come on already. There are other national issues much more important. How long will the media keep pumping this story? Why are people so fascinated by mass death?
You know what, this will happen again. You can't stop it!! Just realize it is another risk factor (miniscule risk factor too) and forget about it. Nothing will change, not gun laws, not nothing.
Put it down as an acceptable risk like car accidents or mugging or hurricanes.
And all the hand wringing is not accomplishing anything. If someone is disturbed enough to want to kill people they will do it no matter what society tries unless you want a total police state a-la "1984" where every move is watched and cataloged by an all powerful government.

1. Take a stiff drink and remember . . . |

The MSM is *still* a'twitter over Anna Nicole Smith.
And it doesn't get much sadder and pointless than that.

It's big enough to rate the full week. It's almost Friday, so it's almost over.

3. we need to believe there is something we can do in |
|
HOPE of averting the next incident of human'kind' destroying itself.
Believing there is a chance tomorrow will be better than today is what keeps us getting up in the morning.
But I do agree, we are saturated by the media- no getting away from the 'story'- its everywhere.
Maybe this is part of the problem to begin with?
I don't want a police state, but I don't want a disconnected selfish narcisistic society either.
There muct be a middle ground.?

6. What I find interesting |

...is the media spending all this time to give a very troubled human being so much press, while at the same time essentially ignoring the people in VA who are there and mourning. Between yesterday and today, CNN's front page has been nothing but covered in links about the shooter. I had to hunt to find anything about Gonzo this morning. Ditto for other MSM web pages.
The fact is that ratings are through the roof with this crap reporting. So they're going to milk it for every cent it's worth. I guess the human fascination with the macabre can't be underestimated.
In any case, I'm glad I gave up on TV news long ago.
