Dear God (or whatever deity), PLEASE give me a day before I die not dominated by Sarah Palin.
I can't stand it anymore. The lazy news media picks up this easy story, and the stories that matter are ignored. I thought the media was bad with Wilbur Mills. I thought they were bad with Tanya Harding. I thought they were ridiculous with Michael Jackson, or Octomom, or somebody plus somebody Makes Eight. I dunno, I ignored it and survived them all. But this is relentless. Apparently nobody is out of work, or without health care. Apparently there are no wars in Afghanistan or Iraq. Apparently global warming is not happening. Apparently everybody is living a perfect life, without hunger, disease, war or even scientific curiosity.

And it's all because of Sarah Palin. Only Sarah counts now. No other story can possibly be on any web site. It will be all Sarah, all the time, soon on the Food Network, ESPN, The Weather Channel, Turner Classic Movies and C-Span.

Somebody take me now. I'm ready.

"Oh, this is the big one! You hear that, Elizabeth?! I'm coming to join you, honey!"

6. I second that emotion.
Turn off the tube and read a book. (Uh, not that book.)

I'm watching the PBS Frontline production about the aftermath of the Iranian election.

11. I turned off the TV, and it was on the Internet. I turned off the Internet, and it was in the press
I ignored the press, and there it was in the hands of everyone on the Metro in DC.

I have to keep track of current events. It's my job. Can I get no rest from this? You think it's only TV?

I need a break. Thanks anyway, God (or whatever deity).

3. Who is actually giving the green light in the media for this 'thing'
Edited on Tue Nov-17-09 10:21 PM by Rosa Luxemburg
do they all gather around the table at CNN, MSNBC, Pox News etc and say what shall we write about Sarah today.

I think we should take over the media so she can be put to rest.

8. Every so often, I walk away from the news.
and from here, too, since this place is so focused on the story of the day. The media will take a trivial story, run with it, and beat it into the ground.

Controversy sells papers, Palin is controversial, she put out a book. This story will be gone is a couple days. Palin is out of tricks, for the time being.

and she is job insurance for Obama.

The people here can't seem to get enough of her. I've probably hidden 50 posts in the last few days.

I don't watch that bullshit they call news. It's all about ratings and entertainment.

15. I hear ya. Its ridiculous
Here we are 1 year out and STILL talking non-stop about an inconsequential vice-president candidate.

Some elections, we didn't talk about the vp candidate this much BEFORE the election.

Sarah. Just go away. Please
