There is a food pantry near my work that is open every Tuesday and it was PACKED |
|
with a waiting line blocks long at 6 AM and it doesn't even open until 9 AM
I felt really bad for those standing in line.
Later I found out that today who ever was in line would get everything they needed for a complete Thanksgiving dinner at no cost to them.
That is an awesome program. Tomorrow I am going to find out how to donate to the program or at the very least volunteer my time.

1. Thank you for posting this! |
|
I have to attend one, once a month here in my little home town. They are really a blessing. I'm laid up this month, and I called today and they are going to have some grocerys delivered to my home. They have very loving volunteers for that. Maybe it's something many of you could do? It would make for a very Happy Thanksgiving for many of us poor old folks! Bless you!!

6. I live in an "awesome" town! |

Small, but awesome! People know and care about each other in a place this size.

3. Sorry to hear you're under the weather |

I hope it's nothing serious. Are you going to be able to spend Thanksgiving with any of your kids?

We'll have to do another grandbaby thread and post pics of all these kids. Aren't they just a treasure? Did you get hurt, or are you sick? If I'm forgetting something you already told me, sorry, I can't remember anything anymore.

5. We have a church group out here on the Iron Range |
|
The get local and other merchants to donate the left over food that is ready to expire and the third Saturday of the month they bring it all together. Then then have the people pay a $15.00 fee and they get one each of the groceries. I went a couple of times. But there was more than I could use. And a lot of stuff I would never use. But it is a good idea. It is so crowded that I also don't like that. The fifteen dollars goes to the church and they use it for a lot of things. I haven't been is about 8 months but I bet it is so crowded you couldn't get near it.
