Police had been called to the 700 block of Calvert Street about 4 p.m. Saturday, where a man was reportedly arguing with others and displaying two butcher knives.

A police officer arrived and told the man to get on the ground, but he didn't comply. When the officer got out of his patrol car, the man took off on foot.

The officer chased him to an apartment complex, and was within 10 feet of the man when he rounded a corner and the subject disappeared, apparently into an apartment.

Seconds later, the officer was looking through an apartment window and saw Galloway jump up from the floor and run out of the apartment. The officer tackled Galloway and handcuffed him.

The resident of the apartment then walked out, holding a baseball bat. He said he'd told Galloway to leave the apartment, but Galloway asked him to be quiet and remained on the floor. The man told police he got a baseball bat and hit Galloway two times on the right thigh, prompting aquick exit from the apartment.
