A reminder - today is 12th anniversary of OKC bombing.
The OKC Memorial is very thoughtful, evocative and a perfect tribute to all lost to that event. Whenever I go home to Oklahoma I always make a point to go down town - usually in the evening but sometimes at 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. Even at that time of night others are always there visiting and remembering as well.

I called a friend in Oklahoma City this pm to tell him that I remembered. During the course of the conversation he told me that Mayor Giuliani was the main speaker at today's memorial service. I shocked us both when I completely exploded with anger - That Motherf**ker can't get a memorial built in his own home town, what is he doing interloping on ours.

Anyway, my friend became very amused at what some might say was my over reaction to that bastard's presence at the OKC memorial. Then he said he loved me because I always have the perfect visceral reaction to events that others would just let slide.

Peace.

1. K & R
Excellent reaction to the presence of Ghouliani. I probably would react the same way. That man has no business coming to events like these.

4. All of the crazies crawl out from under their rocks today
It's the whole Waco/OKC/Columbine thing. I'm surprised that Cho didn't wait a few days, since he was such an admirer of the Columbine kids.

As for Ghouliani showing up at the OKC memorial service, he was probably trying to claim that it was done by Islamic terrorists and not by anti-government white supremacists. :puke:

5. It's interesting--it's usually the headline story a day or two before April 19th
here in OKC. This year it barely made a blip. I guess present-day events won the newscycle.

It pissed me off, too, that Giuliani was a featured speaker--what the hell does he know about us? I'm sure some of the rich repukes in town got him to come in. What a waste of space. Send me Bill Clinton every day. I was standing six feet behind him when he spoke at the Memorial dedication, and it was amazing. Now, that's a REAL president.

It's hard to believe it was 12 years ago--seems like yesterday.
