"The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement!"
Yep, it's that festive time of year again, and what would Thanksgiving be without this all-time classic?

"As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!!!" -- Arthur Carlson

Watching it or even thinking about it now, brings back some good memories of someone I dearly miss. Thanks..!

49. They can really only fly in "ground effect"
If you were to take them up in a helo and drop them, they too would hit the ground like "wet sacks of cement".

6. just a side note - turkeys can fly
but commercial turkeys have their wings clipped so they can't fly away before they are slaughtered and eaten.

7. Maybe it's just nostalgia...
...but I think WKRP may be the best television show ever. Wish you could get it on DVD with the original music in place.

22. I've heard there are bootlegs out there.
Have never sought them out though. It would be an interesting (albeit illegal) project for somebody to patch the original audio of the edited segments into video from the DVDs.

Yeah, the version available is probably better than nothing, but I'm often a purist about these things.

45. Yes, but there's a catch.
A lot of the music used in the show was replaced by generic soundtrack due to licensing issues.

Are some people soooo f'ing consumed with her that they have to include a reference to her in everything they do?

Goodness.

16. Nope. It was Mr. Carlson. Here's what Les said.
"It's a helicopter, and it's coming this way. It's flying something behind it, I can't quite make it out, it's a large banner and it says, uh - Happy... Thaaaaanksss... giving! ... From ... W ... K ... R... P!! No parachutes yet. Can't be skydivers... I can't tell just yet what they are, but - Oh my God, Johnny, they're turkeys!! Johnny, can you get this? Oh, they're plunging to the earth right in front of our eyes! One just went through the windshield of a parked car! Oh, the humanity! The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement! Not since the Hindenburg tragedy has there been anything like this!"

No way a Butterball turkey's feet ever leave the ground. That breast meat was bred for eating and not flying.

48. Well, thanks very much. Having company this year. and will surprise them with the episode.
Great friends. Yes, they are gay. They have to watch the Lions (I insist), and this episode. And put up with the dogs loving them endlessly. One of them works at a very high end men's clothing store, and his weekend after Thanksgiving is a nightmare. Good luck.

Anyway, what the hell. I love Thanksgiving, and my partner (OK, heterosexual) is a hell of a cook. Go Lions!
