It all comes down to we need election finance reform |
|
Who here, or anywhere for that matter, can honestly say that most of our congressmen and women are not bought and paid for through the financing of their elections and re-elections

1. We would need to bribe Congress to pass that legislation. |
|
But, if we came up with enough cash, it would change everything, until the Supreme Court found that unconstitutional. No doubt.
Money rules.

5. We would need to bribe the Supreme's as well. |

They say giving money is free speech.
So, as you stated, money is power.

9. This IS an issue that is fully deserving of "going to the streets". |
|
No reform in this area really means no reform ANYWHERE....As long as "public opinion" actually means "corporate money", real reform is impossible.

4. We desperately need finance reform but neither our congress nor the administration will do it as |
|
they are the benefactors. We have a system that basically functions on bribery. It's no wonder this country is so WTF all of the time and corporations, lobbyists, greed and money rule the country. It's that way by default. A F'en mess for "We the People," who really don't count anymore in the NEW USA. Only money routed to the right places counts and rules. So sad.

It is indeed the main thing that runs our government, the major donors buy congress, the president, senators and reps are bought and paid for in the chase to be re-elected, and they are the only ones who can do anything about it. We Have the fox guarding the hen house....

11. It's about to get a whole lot worse if the Citizens United v. FEC ruling is sweeping. |
|
Imagine how screwed we'll all be when Big Ag, Big Oil & Coal, Big Pharma, et al are given the absolute freedom to use their awesome stash of billion of dollars to directly buy unlimited media time for or against candidates. The most progressive candidates will be the first to go.
With all "teh stoopid" conservatives, we'll have a representative gov of wholly owned corporate whores in no time.
Election reform so incredibly critical at this point.
