Lieutenant Governor Halter helped secure the clinic site for the NAFC. Leading up to Saturday's event, the Office of Lieutenant Governor worked with a group of 25 Arkansas health-care providers, non-profit associations and government offices to help recruit the volunteer team of medical professionals and non-medical support staff, as well as get the word out about the clinic to as many uninsured people as possible.
"We talked with people who hadn't seen a doctor in years," said Halter, who helped register patients at the clinic alongside his wife, Shanti. "We were glad to get them in to see a doctor Saturday and, more important, to provide them with a connection to continuing care in the immediate future, and not five or 10 years later."

For those who don't know him, he got a progressive lottery system passed where
all proceeds go to full scholarships to any high school graduate with a GPA above 2.5. Those scholarships can be used at community colleges or trade schools as well. Arkansas is near dead last in education, but this lottery will change things.

There is also some speculation as to whether or not we will challenge incumbent Democratic Senator Blanche Lincoln in a primary race for the Democratic nominee for the Senate election in Arkansas in 2010.
