Does anyone else suspect that the role of the President |
|
is just to be a functionary? A sort of PR frontman for the status quo PTB?

One hopes that breaking out of that mold is possible.
But I no longer expect that from our current president.

"...no matter what promises you make on the campaign trail - blah, blah, blah - when you win, you go into this smoky room with the twelve industrialist, capitalist scumfucks that got you in there, and this little screen comes down... and it's a shot of the Kennedy assassination from an angle you've never seen before, which looks suspiciously off the grassy knoll.... And then the screen comes up, the lights come on, and they say to the new president, 'Any questions?"

14. I certainly had that feeling with Clinton. |
|
He wasn't my preferred choice in the primary, but I was happy he won.
But only a few days into his first term, I was thinking seriously that he'd had "a talking to" that led to a change in him.

He is one of them from the get go. The PTB would never let someone who is not in their pocket in the first place even get near the presidency. Sure they allow some real independants, democratic and republican alike, run but they will never allow them to get far.

22. Yes, but at the same time we still can't quit because when you give up |
|
that's how they win.
The two primary strategies used by the corporate supremacists/PTB to rule over or control "We the peoples'" government are "attrition" combined with "divide and conquer."
The cynicism runs in cycles as each generation discovers disappointment or dejection of the limited political ability or shortcomings of their champion candidate or the office.
The status quo you speak of lives and thrives off this cyclical cynicism, when it ebbs the people get a sympathetic PR front-man, when it reaches high tide, the people get a cold blooded, corporate supremacist, fascist loving autocrat.
I believe the only way for the people to win long term and get the effective progressive change that best represents their interests is to stay on the offensive, no matter as to who is in power, remain hungry, resolute and committed. My ultimate conclusion is that much more unites the American People; than divides them, but the PTB; you speak of magnifies any and all differences as a means to wield or manipulate power, so above all remain united regardless of emotional or cultural whirlwinds trying to rip us apart.
Thanks for the thread, branders seine.

I know the ebb and flow was a metaphor based on my post, but my point still stands.
When the tide ebbs we can look for clams or build sand castles, when it's up we surf, if we need to build dikes like the Dutch or homes on stilts or boats as some Asians do, then so be it.
Cynicism like the ocean ebbs and flows but we can either expect that dynamic and take control of the situation by being emotionally resolute and relentless in spite of the sea's cyclical nature and adapt to fighting against those cycles or give up and quit.
I can only guarantee you one thing if we quit, those PTB will absolutely win, if we keeping fighting maybe we'll catch a few fish.

Remember Obama and Hillary were in Northern Virginia, Obama ditched the press at Dulles airport. The Bilderberg group was meeting in Chantilly, Virginia only a few miles away. I'm convinced Obama attended this meeting.
