Financial Market Predictions for Tomorrow |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-26-09 10:49 PM by AllentownJake
What will the effect of Dubai financially blowing up be?
I think a 3% decline which will end up being regained next week barring any other bad news.
Of course Black Friday after 4pm is the ultimate domestic bad news drop, except for the Friday before the Superbowl.

1. -3% early rising to -1.5% by the close |
|
Then the Dubai story starts to unravel by Sun night, leading to a 4% loss on Monday.

That seems like a good bet. Do you know if the FDIC is operating tomorrow. Seems like a good day to take down a big regional.

8. That could be a conservative estimate |
|
or the damage could be limited to the European markets most affected by it.
Unfortunately, I think the former is more likely and more shocks will follow.
Sic transit glorious money. The illusion was fun while it lasted.

9. The big hit will be in London |
|
The question is whether the US and Europe will be very much hurt, either by exposure to Dubai or by the collapse of a UK bank.
RBC and Lloyds are exposed heavily, but they are already wards of the state.
Barclays and HSBC look to be weakend by Dubai.
The question is whether diplomatic pressure on Abu Dhabi can be brought so that they take over Dubai's loans.

4. as far as US markets go (disclaimer: i am a daytrader and futures trader) |
|
i don't make predictions. i make trades :)
with that in mind, there are factors tomorrow that come into play
1) many players won't be there. they take a 4 day weekend. this could (usually) does decrease volume on the friday after thanksgiving. lower volume markets means that the locals could take precedence in the pit, as opposed to the institutions
2) tomorrow is a shortened trading day. most markets close at 1pm eastern time. so, IF the market sells off early, there is less time/chance of a rebound, and if it doesn't sell off, there is not a post lunch session to wait for it to happen
also note that the afternoon volume in the markets tends to take off in the afternoon after the bond pit closes. that won't happen tomorrow

that i don't daytrade "weird' days like tomorrow. tomorrow being a "weird" day because it's right after a midweek holiday, has a shortened schedule, is historically low volume as hell, etc.
it makes the price action very weird.
in brief, anything could happen. i certainly think that IN GENERAL, the market is massively overbought and needs a serious pullback... at LEAST to 9k or less on the dow.
imnsho

7. The major players would have been trading all day today in Europe and Asia |
|
Big players have European and Asian offices and can trade off the exchanges.
