Poll question: WAR! What is it good for? And How Will You Vote? |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-01-09 12:13 PM by Techn0Girl
The DK did an interesting poll last week about how Democrats would vote in the 2010 elections. I thought I might see how that Plays out on DU.
The Question: If President Obama sends in an additional 30,000 troops to Afghanistan (100,000 total ) today without an exit strategy that gets them out of there within a year - will this affect how you vote this upcoming election year?

It is a bit close to the disappointment we are about to receive, sure. Unfair? I'm not completely convinced.

3. I will not revitalize the rethuglican party. |
|
Therefore I will vote Dem, as I always have.
The past eight years were a horror show. More than the Dems could ever dream to be. And I never want it repeated.

6. I'll vote Democratic, but I will damn well let the candidates and officeholders know my opinions! |
|
And if I can I will volunteer for candidates to challenge the Blue Dogs we've got now (Rep. Allen Boyd and Sen. Bill Nelson). I will never vote for a Republican and I doubt I will vote for a third party candidate since that could give Republicans better chances of winning in our not very blue area.

15. In this area it is "the lesser" or "the actual" evil for a choice |
|
For instance, last time Bill Nelson ran, the choice was between him and Katherine Harris. I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a sharp stick than vote for someone like Katherine Harris, but there are enough really stupid people here in North Florida that I could not take the chance that she might actually get elected as our senator. So I voted for Bill Nelson.
I've got to see who runs against Allen Boyd next time, but I'd bet even the Democratic primary challenger won't be a huge improvement, if they are any kind of change. I haven't even bothered to check who the Republicans are running against him since I will not vote for them.
If I lived in a safe Democratic area, it would be different - I might vote against the Democrat to indicate my disapproval of their record. But the chances of getting a seriously right wing Republican is too great here to take that kind of chance. Our Blue Dogs might not be the kind of Democrats I'd prefer but they are fairly reliably Democratic place holders. Maybe some day this area will move more to the left but I probably will not live that long.

I wish more people would vote on this. I'd really like to see how the DKos poll correlates with with this one.

I'll be voting Dem since it is only my congressmen that is up for re-election. Plus, he is skeptical of the troop buildup. However, 2012 is a whole 'nother story.
