Question: Who are the people that are at 33% of tax bracket? |
|
I am not a tax expert, but I would like to know who are the earners that are at 33% of their tax bracket. How much money do these people make? What is the tax bracket for the majority of americans who earn $40-$50 thousand dollars per year?
I would like to know and would appreciate if any DUer can supply me with this information.
Thank you.

5. Agreed. Particularly egregious is the lack of a 20% bracket between |
|
the 15% and the 25% ones.

8. That is disturbing, yes. |
|
I think we should move to a system of on-line tax filing only, with supporting documentation to be digitally sent. The system should be transparent, but not necessarily "simple" at the expense of fair.

11. Note that the actual computation is a piece-wise linear function |
|
Everyone, no matter how high their income, only pays 10% tax on their first $16,700 of income (if married, filing jointly). Then 15% on the next 51,200, and so forth.

7. Lots of Doctors, Lawyers, Dentists.... |
|
Engineers, Brokers, both real estate and stock. Lot's of different professions.
You probably know one or know someone who does know one.
You probably pass by a business on a regular basis where the owner falls into that bracket.

12. Note that it does tax you in the lower brackets first. |
|
So you're not paying your tax solely based on the top tax bracket in which you fall.

|
Warren Buffett, interviewed many times, has said that he paid a lower income tax rate than his secretary and when asked says that he pays around 16% he secretary pays closer to 18%.
