Ben Bernanke is not only unrepetant that he gave billions to incompetent and criminal billionaires on Wall Street, but he now suggests that those who have faithfully paid Social Security & Medicare taxes for 40-50 years should have their Social Security and Medicare gutted.

"That's (Social Security & Medicare) where the money is" says Ben Bernanke, quoting Willie Sutton.

We've been screwed on Afghanistan, we're getting screwed on HCR, are we going to sit by and re-confirm this son-of-a-bitch?

1. He should be in jail for his part in our fall.
He set himself up for some very unfortunate karma.

3. That is a long time dream of the political class
Neo conservatives/liberals have hated the safety nets FDR put in place since the end of WWII.

5. Lord knows I'd just as soon see him fry
but this is just a statement of the obvious. Our government is effectively bankrupt and there's no way in hell it is going to come up with the many tens of trillions of dollars to fulfill the promises that have been made. The money simply isn't there, and it can't be squeezed out of a Depression economy. You can't successfully tax people who have no job, no assets, and no income; and the world has just about had it with buying our debt.

The only way to even technically meet those promises is to immediately hyperinflate (and he's working on it), which is an effective default on the promises anyway.
