So since Max Baucus apparently has his price, what did he get to delay and ruin health care for us?

I am pissed off beyond belief at him.

You're a senator, one of the most powerful people in the country and you try to get your girlfriend a government appointment. What the hell?

So, now I want to know what he got to shaft (makes you wonder) health care reform.

1. Only 13% of his political donations come from Montana
You do the math.

3. That's really bad. Is it because they don't like him, or just because Montana
is sparsely populated, do you think?

4. Sparse population and one of the lowest wage states

We don't have money here. And we don't like Max. It's a multi-faceted thing.

He gets big bucks from outside because of his senate longevity; he has clout and he is fucking misusing it. The seniority system for juicy committee chairs sucks. Too many are bartering their chairs for money and jobs for selves (after politics) and/or family.

Too many of the pols on the Hills are whores. Max is a whore with lots of seniority. The voters in Montana don't have a chance of meeting his price for his services. He doesn't work for us.

Look at pics from Obama's visit to Mt last summer. Max was there and he looked decidedly uncomfortable, while all the rest of the VIPs looked pretty happy.

10. Maybe this will be the nail in his political coffin.
http://www.americablog.com

Senate Finance Chairman Max Baucus’ office confirmed late Friday night that the Montana Democrat was carrying on an affair with his state office director, Melodee Hanes, when he nominated her to be U.S. attorney in Montana.

Now, I really don't care about the sexual exploits of politicians, but when I am expected to pay for those exploits, I get angry.

14. Since he was re-elected last year, he will survive
I really don't think he runs again. This term seems to be his big money dance, not for campaign, but for his own security and comfort in his old age. Ol Max doesn't look to be a MT resident anymore. He seems to like it where the weather is not so cold. He left here a long time ago and he doesn't give a shit about anybody but Max.

17. I'm so sorry for you. Although my Sens piss me off, they're on the whole
a couple of the good ones (Maria Cantell and Patty Murray). Why/how do you think he was re-elected? Wait, never mind. The same answer to any question: money.

20. Actually, not money. He didn't have to spend much to campaign here
The real reason, and it is why it was hard to turn Burns out in favor of Tester: seniority. We only have one rep to the House here owing to that scanty population. With only one vote in the House, the only hope at any juice is for senators with a lot of seniority. Voters here know that, so turning out an incumbent senator is not gonna happen very often.

Sadly, Burns fucked MT citizens for too long before they finally couldn't pretend he was good for the state. And Max has been doing the same for a spell. He has to know he is out after this stint. This is his money dance, making sure he gets all the goodies he can, which makes him a real threat to the American people.

The money isn't so much about campaign funds for MT guys. After they have spent a lot of time away from here, seems the money they are working for is about life in a warmer climate post-senate.

$1500 a week in "contributions" by the insurance business lobby for the last several years.

mark

EDIT: My mistake - the figure is $1500 a day, not a week. Link:

He is the most highly "paid" Democrat in Congress -by the insurers...only 2 republicans get more than Sen. Baucus.
