Hey, Hotmail, is something wrong with your "Smut" filter?
These past few weeks, I have been buried with revolting words that should have been caught with the filters. They are not even jumbled, just straight out trash talk. I sent them a little e-mail this AM. One wonders if it will do any good. They appear in the Junk Mail folder, I don't want to see them at all.

Of course, I do not open these little ditties but I still don't want to see the titles. Some are really vile. Anyone else. Am e-mail campaign might help them clean up their act.

4. I still use Hotmail for those situations where I know my address
will be spread around. Also, to buy on line. I have another address I use for friends, family and associates who will use it for communication with me only. Never mix the two and it has worked for years.

Hotmail seems about as generic as you can get. Most of my junk stuff goes there, read, delete.

It has been too long to switch to gmail or something else. Too many addresses to change.

5. So you use it as an address at which to direct junk
and are bothered by the specific junk you get?

Not following this logic so much.

8. Perhaps I did not make myself clear. I use Hotmail for things
like ordering from Lands End, Airline correspondence, e-bay, buydig.com, In other words, I use it for legitimate reasons when I will not use my private e-mail. I never get junk of that one. Things I do not want are the smutty things that must come from some of these places selling or renting their lists.

When I buy books or ask for info from a legit company, I also use hotmail.

I didn't mean for this to be a slug-fest, just a comment on their lousy filter.Todays gem subject was not facebook, rather _uckbook. Clear? This should have been caught.

7. No they use Windows Live
But your 1995 answer is telling. Someone is stuck in time. It has been Windows Live for some time now.

2. I think most Hotmail addresses go straight to spam now anyway.
I see a lot of Yahoo, AOL, and gmail addresses in the spam folder as well.

It doesn't seem that Hotmail has ever been too interested in cleaning up their program.

3. not that this is really the place, but you can bypass the Junk folder entirely
Edited on Wed Dec-09-09 07:27 AM by foo_bar
Click on the menu labeled "Options->" on the top right of the screen, then "More Options", then "Filters and Reporting" under Junk email, and you'll see the following menu:

Delete junk e-mail
Choose when junk e-mail is deleted.
Later - Junk e-mail is automatically moved into the junk e-mail folder, where it is deleted after ten days. (the default)
Immediately - Junk e-mail is deleted immediately. (<- the thing you definitely want to click on)

6. I've had the same Hotmail account for over 7 years
I've never had a major problem with spam. My junk filter works fine, it catches only a handful each month and even that was related to the Monster database theft last year.

And I've NEVER gotten any pr0n emails or even "male performance" ads.
