E! Online Reports Bush Drinking and Marriage Troubles Rumors
E! Online Reports Bush Drinking and Marriage Troubles Rumors
Posted by Jon Ponder | Apr. 20, 2007, 7:22 am

Ted Casablanca, the former gossip columnist for Premiere Magazine who now writes for E! online, is reporting rumors that circulated on supermarket tabloids, at BuzzFlash and here at Pensito Review months ago — Pres. Bush is drinking again and Laura has moved out:

Is there trouble at the White House between Dubya and first lady Laura Bush? I hear someone’s headed for a hotel, could she already be there? Hmmm…

“She’s staying at the Hay-Adams. I don’t know how many people know…but it’s probably not many.”

That’s my Desk DeeCee, hard at busybody work, informing me further of what this column has more than hinted at before: that the U.S. Chief of Grief, George W. Bush, has a wife (by the name of Laura, ‘course) who’s so damn put out by the teetotaling Texan’s return to drinking that she had to get outta the White House. Woo-hoo! That be first-class First Lady dish there, my darlin’ goss lovers!

“She just couldn’t take it anymore,” whispered a former White House staffer who remains superclose to Miz Bush. “She’s had it.”

4. I think it's nonsense...
do you really believe the press would NOT report his drinking? Helen Thomas wouldn't? David Gregor wouldn't?

It would be the biggest story of his presidency, given the sensationalist nature of the media today. And for some reason nobody wants to touch it? It could make a journalist's career.

the Dear Leader's drinking. The way they cover for him is astonishing. Have they ever once asked what Jeff Gannon was doing at the White House all those times? Talk about a story made for sensationlism mongers...

25. Maybe because
there never really was much of a story there.

They DID ask questions. They just didn't lead to anything dramatic, like the charges often put forward here.

I don't believe the entire Washington press corps would hide the fact that Bush was drinking heavily.

They'll all tow the line because kkkarl rove and cheney and his minions still walk the earth, still have phones available to them to call the network brass or the corporate owners and lean on 'em to keep the peons downstairs in the press corps in line.

A mortal sin among these people would be to do something that winds up denying them their precious "access." They'll sell their souls for "access." Exhibit A: bob woodward. I rest my case.

19. Hmm that is why the Main Stream media told us about
reagan's Alzheimers in a timely manner

No, there are soem things they don't tell you. That Alzheimers case is one of them

How about Kennedy's extensive use of pain medications (for his very valid back problems) they also told you about them, right? WRONG, on both counts.

They kept that info away from the American people

26. I don't know that Reagan
was actually diagnosed during his presidency. But there certainly was plenty of speculation about his mental faculties, and if the press KNEW he had been diagnosed with alzheimers, I don't think they would've sat on it.

You can't compare JFK to now - times are very different.

32. If it wasn't formerly diagnosed during his presidency...
people around him knew that there was something seriously wrong with him. I remember one world leader at the time said he was shocked at how during a meeting, Reagan would read almost every single thing he said off of note cards. Even simple things like, "What do you think, Bob?"

27. What are you saying? They would cover it up.
If our media found out that the Twerp was hitting the sauce, they would fall all over themselves ignoring it and failing to report it. There are so many "big stories" about this administration (9/11 anyone?) that the press will simply not touch. Their mission is apparently to protect Bush and Cheney as much as possible. Why, I have no idea.

28. This isn't a complicated story
like 9/11.

It's a simple binary thing - either he's drinking or he isn't.

You think Helen Thomas would keep it a secret? Why?

Now... it may be possible that he IS drinking. I doubt it, but it's possible. but if he is, it is not common knowledge among the White House press.

34. I think in the interest of national security, even Helen Thomas...
won't touch the story that the President is completely drunk off his ass almost every single day.

The fact that no one in the MSM will even ASK THE QUESTION is grounds for me to be suspicious, especially when full-blown alcoholism is a simple and obvious explanation for every aspect of his bizarre behavior.

But who in our White House press corps has the effrontery to do that? Their very jobs exist "at the pleasure of the White House". So who's going to ask the very simple (and necessary) question, "Have you been drinking?" Please watch the video of Bush's latest speech in Ohio and tell me that you don't think he's on something. There's just no possible way that you could think he's substance-free.

36. i think we need to see some evidence
BEFORE we spread rumors. If we spread rumors and it turns out to be false, it is US who looks like a fool. I know it would be 1) believable, 2) ironic, 3) serves-him-right, 4) damaging-to-Bush, 5) etc if these rumors were true. But if we spread them and it turns out that the rumors were unsubstantiated except for a newspaper tabloid, WE are the ones who look like idiots, and all this would do for Bush would get him sympathy for being unfairly attacked for something he didn't do.

So...what is the substantiation that the tabloids used in their story to give evidence for their assertion? We need to be skeptical of the press....even when it tells stories that we would like to be true.

Of course there is irony here. Bush got us into Iraq by feeding the american public a lot of unsubstantiated things people wanted to believe....so if people believe unsubstantiated things about him it serves him right....but, then again, we don't want to stoop to his level, do we?

42.  The NE, Star , and Globe are NOT "Weekly News of the World".
Edited on Sat Apr-21-07 10:45 AM by WinkyDink
PEOPLE magazine is just a glossier NE. And gossip columnists in the Daily News or NY Post are sisters under the skin as well.
How ELSE do you think you know anything at all of celebrities? MTP? Even KO uses the tabloids.
Are the tabloids INCORRECT when they write of Angelina's adoptions? No. ANS's baby's paternity? No. JFK, Jr's Caroline's drug use? No. Charles and Camilla's secret taped phone calls? No.

What the tabloids ARE, MANY times, are the vanguard of stories.

Nobody else had evidence of OJ's Bruno Magli's, not even the prosecution. The NE found the photos, though.

Re: Evidence. You don't think there are witnesses in hotels (reservations, maintenance, dining, room service), or even on the WH staff that won't dish for cash? Hahahah!
