Vitter tested by vote on Medicaid
WASHINGTON — Republican U.S. Sen. David Vitter may be in a bind over voting with his state or with his party regarding critical Medicaid money being sought for Louisiana, say public officials of both parties.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu secured at least $100 million to help fix a future gap in state money that provides medical care for the poor. But the money was attached to the health-care overhaul legislation being pushed by Democratic Senate leaders. Most Republicans, including Vitter, oppose the measure.

A Vitter ally, Republican U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn, of Oklahoma, has introduced an amendment that would strip Louisiana of the money.

Landrieu said Vitter should vote against Coburn.

“He should be voting to support his state,” Landrieu said Wednesday. “This was the No. 1 request of our governor.”

1. Good on Landrieu.
She should make a ruckus over this.

2. How can republicans put party over their state
It seems to me the people are the ones who voted for him, not the nutty republican representatives in congress.

3. Easy---Republicans do not believe in Medicaid. When they forced
Bill Clinton to cut Welfare, they were upset he did not end it.

Anytime Governores in these state have to cut--where is the first
place they go to cut. Social Programs.
