Just got off the phone with LL Bean. Not one of my 3 items were in stock...sold out for the season!

Serves me right for trying to shop so late but I didn't get some info for gifts from my family members til now. But even a parka (expensive by my pinchpenny standards) was sold out for the season so I'm wearing the old parka for the 10th year (just getting another zipper in it)!

Good thing I buy sturdy clothes, but I'm a little bummed about the pjs for my granddaughter...I couldn't get alternate ones for her at Gap Kids cuz they were sold out too!

My guess is that stores just stocked a lot less this year so they wouldn't have a surplus, but I don't know...:shrug:

2. That's exactly it. Things aren't selling out because of too many customers.

Retailers have been very conservative in ordering stock to avoid getting stuck with inventory they don't want at the end of the season. Perhaps the number of unfilled orders, such as yours, will change their outlook for next year.
