"pulling yourself up by your boot straps" |
|
They have not only cut off the boot straps they have taken away the boots .
I refer to this as how many americans without a safety net have now been forgotten , including the troops without the proper equipment or care .
How the jobs are being stripped away and the list is endless , I tryed to compile a list but after a while gave up because it is just to damn disheartening .
I must apologise for my endless rants and never being positive .

It won't be long before things are so bad that even Bushbots will be whining about the bad economy and lack of government aid. It may just bring about a new age of enlightenment and sideline the GOP's crass and selfish policies for decades.

"For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."
means that no matter how hard you pull on your bootstraps all you are going to do is pull them off your boots.

3. I used to say that all through the 80s. |
|
They tell us to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, but then ban the sale of boots with straps. Trickle down economics is a euphemism for pissing on the poor. It is as simple as that.

4. Ahh! The Republican motto: "You're on your own." |
|
Just like their concern for life begins at conception and ends at birth. They don't like taxes, unless those taxes in someway benefit them in some way. Yeah, pull yourself up by your bootstraps unless you are a Republican corporation in need of a government subsidy or tax break.

9. My supervisor is a republican. |

And it's funny who he'll give expensive training to and to those he won't. Especially when those who get it shouldn't have qualified and soon left afterwards.
Stupid.

5. Short note from a Katrina survivor re: bootstraps. |
|
Look,
I don't know if this will make sense, but YOU do not need to pull yourself up by YOUR bootstraps. WE need to pull ourselves up by OUR bootstraps. When you think you've lost everything, you begin to notice the helping hands just waiting to greet you. You may even notice the things you can offer to others which will help them get through the day.
The times are dark, indeed, but keep your eyes open for brief moments of light. Help bring those moments into being.

7. Something I have observed over decades |
|
is that those who loudly proclaim that THEY "pulled themselves up" CONSISTENTLY fail to credit those who gave them a "leg up" along the way.

8. Stripped, Americans spat on in the process, and then the people who get them showing |

they sure as hell aren't as good.
Sorry, but actions speak louder than words.
Especially when jobs are freely given to pirates. Maybe more Americans should pirate; maybe jobs will come back. :eyes:
Especially computer programming companies. Windows being a great example; Vista does have issues (as does its predecessors), so is the stilted English seen all too often when companies throw out resumes with so much as one typo, and no doubt the WGA antipiracy scheme is rubbish because those coding it would be hurt the most if they actually did it right!
I shouldn't rag solely on Microsoft as the problem is increasingly universal... but like Steve Jobs, Bill Gates has ragged on teachers and American workers, and it is not ringing true. Not anymore.
On edit - addendum: Never mind the workers getting the jobs CAN live on what we deem low wages. Their economies were pretty small to begin with. John McCain can go pick himself with his "Americans won't pick lettuce for $50/hr" crack; it only shows how clueless he is. MANY would pick lettuce for that price. Hell, I'd do it for $25/hr. $20/hr even! It's a good, physical, healthy job. And as we're all being told, healthier people means lower health care costs.
