Aid to Israel costs too much, Joe.
We can't afford it.

5. Actually its about 1/4 of my state's annual budget, and I don't consider that a drop in the bucket.
Aid to Israel is about $2.75 Billion and WV has an annual budget of about $11.6 Billion so given that as a backdrop. For whatever its worth my state (small as it is) is about 3 times as large as Israel even though we only have about a third the populiation (I'm no mathmatician but does that mean that we have 1/9th the pouplation density?). For me it puts things into some sort of perspective.

If this state got funds from the Federal Government that matched what it gave to Israel we could have things other states have, like good schools, hospitals, roads, law enforcement, and maybe even a little protection by the Environmental Protection Agency.

8. I was comparing those funds to other federal expenditures
specifically, the wars. As for WV, Vt has a budget of about a third of yours. Granted we've got a third of the population, but our schools are pretty good, and there's healthcare for kids and adults through the state that's pretty darn good too. Our hospitals are excellent. We lead the nation in Community Healthcare Centers. Our roads do suck. Maybe WV has a history of poor budget priorities?
