I'm gonna say it once again. FIRE EMANUEL RAHM NOW! |
|
Just sayin'.
He has done nothing but disaster for the American people to protect the DLC's interests.

Seems like everything Rahm conveys is the opposite of what Obama promised during the campaign.

|
Who the intend to pick for their cabinet before the elections. At least we would get the full picture. It's the same with congress and the senate , they vote we don't on who the leader will be.
It's only fair that the people get the full picture then vote.

23. What are they supposed to do? |
|
Dems, whether they are Kucinich supporters or DLC, can't make Lieberman vote the way I want him to. Lieberman is a real JERK.
But now there are two choices: throw in the towel because we don't have the 60 votes we need to pass reform OR take what we can get.
Teddy Kennedy regretted that he didn't vote for what was possible with health care in his career.
I say take what we can get; support the Dems and try again later.
Right now, though, it will be tough to elect more progressive Dems to replace Blue Dogs and turncoats like Lieberman unless we Dems of all stripes get our act together.
It seems to me that a lot of DUers are behaving in a way designed to make Palin/Huckabee President/VP and DeMInt House Speaker.
I'm old and won't live too long but those of you who are younger will "rue the day" as my generation used to say if you don't start thinking logically.

28. I will be 60 in a few days and one thing I learned a long time ago is... |
|
don't bargain with the devil! That is exactly what they are doing and we are going from hope to despair and from the pot into the fire. If we can't get what we need in this Healthcare bill then what are we getting for the good? Just to say we have one makes no sense at all. If it is not going to help then why do we need what the Republican's want? Makes no sense to bargain away all the good. If we pass a bill with all the important things missing we have played completely into the hands of the Republican's and they will use it to their advantage as we sit idly by looking like they have won.

If Obama doesn't sign some kind of healthcare bill, the Repubs will have won.
The point I think Teddy Kennedy was making is that we need something to amend and improve. Getting that something is VERY difficult, which is why Truman and LBJ and others failed. The climate today IMO is much worse than when LBJ got medicare. I don't think medicare would be passed today if it were being introduced.

30. No --- #1 -- REMOVE Lieberman from his chairmanship . . . |
|
Bar him from Democratic Party meetings, whatever . . .
51 votes is a majority --
When "taking what we can get" represents $600 billion for the insurance industry
corporations, you begin on a road we would never be able to remove them from --
Minor compromise sometimes work -- compromise with Lieberman or Repugs doesn't --
Keep in mind our Founders compromised with SLAVERY -- and SLAVE states -- which was
the road to the Civil War which we still haven't recovered from --
and widespread racism!!!
Agree . . . Democrats have to stop being so frightened and liberals/progressives have
to come together to encourage more liberal candidates and to TARGET "Blue dogs" and
and DLC and others who voting for the Repug agenda.
What we need is a Plan B -- any suggestions?
Obviously, we have to get corporate money out of our elections --
Democrats are not doing what they should be doing because they are more beholden --
to corporations than to the people . . . i.e., PRE-BRIBED and PRE-OWNED --!!!
