How Much Longer?

How much longer are we going to have to put up with the criminal slime in the Whitehouse? How much longer are men and women going to die in Iraq or Afghanistan or Iran (you know it's coming)? How long, how much more is it going to take? When will Speaker Pelosi realise that the people don't want impeachment off the table, they don't want to wait until 2009, they want Bush and his cronies gone NOW because if they stick around, we may not make it until 2009.

Examine the situation: Rampant corruption, a VP who has openly declared that he is unanswerable to anyone, a president who holds nothing but open contempt for Congress, an administration dedicated dually to propping up the president and serving big business. In the history of the USA, this admin is unique, an admin that holds not just disregard but outright hatred for the general public and the spin just goes on and on: Corruption, sleaze, disinterest, war, more war, unwinnable war, torture, intimidation, manipulation. How much more is it going to take before the Dems in Congress (honourable exception for Kucinich) say "ENOUGH"? We can't afford to wait another 18 months. What could happen in those 18 months? Bush finds a way to delay the election, install himself for the indefinate future. Sound insane? If I had told you in 1999, before The Long Night came upon us all, that the USA would be using torture as a systemic policy, that prisoners, even citizens could be designated "enemy combatants" and just plain disappeared, would you have called me insane then? When we have moved so far into totalitarian dictatorship, so far into fascism (and I use that word not as an ugly name but in it's full historical and technical meaning), do you honestly doubt that this admin would try any of that? Do you honestly doubt that he would like to arrange matters so that only an armed insurrection could remove him?

Every day, this admin undermines the safeguards placed to protect you, every day more power and money is channelled to their corporate masters, every day more people die in the Middle East and on the streets of the USA. Where is the outrage? Where are the million man marches and the riots? How many states have now adopted impeachment resolutions? Ten, twelve? How many more will it take before Congress listens? Will it have to reach twenty-six states? All fifty? Your president is trying incredibly hard to turn the USA into Saudi Arabia, where the hell is Tom Joad?

Impeach these bastards now. We can't wait 18 months.
