I'm thinking one or more of the 3 Wise Men had to be a Kennedy. |
|
In saying so I cite the Kennedys' commitment to the public good, the welfare of others, and to public service generally and productively.
And note that class tensions helped shape the Luke nativity narrative. Kings from the Orient with snazzy presents making a long desert trek to honor a kid born into abject poverty amid squawking barn animals. The cattle are lowing; the poor baby wakes; the 3 wise men lay some serious bling down in the straw.
You could make a case that the pretty star in the sky led the three kings, or marked the manger for them to find, or you could insist that the light that shone united the public service-minded upper income dudes with the commonfolk. And hell, why stop there -- the persecuted commonfolk, as the local king winds up ordering infanticide just to keep a generational moat around his rule.
The nativity scene a lot of churches put up around this time of year is a still-life with class tensions.
I don't think it's true. But it's a hell of a story.

I always suspected you were as generous of spirit as you are gifted with language.
Now I have proof.
Thank you.

3. Whatever "gift" of language I may have ... |
|
... was given me by those who encourage the continuance of putting pen to paper - despite my lapses in good grammar, as well as good judgment.
The apt pupil masters the basics quickly - but it is the teacher who is the true master of the art.
