What exactly are these people celebrating?

Change? Hope? Based on what? 700 days in the Senate? 130+ "present" votes during that time? What exactly has all these people so convinced that this is "the one?"

I'm wondering about this now that things haven't panned out exactly as people hoped. What was that hope? What was it from? Words? Looking different?

We all had high hope's that Bush's policies would be canceled. If only we knew how many would still be kept in place...

There were literally people crying and kumbiya-ing at Obama's campaign rallies during the summer and fall last year. Based on what? Noone cried at HRC's rallies, or John Edwards', or Biden, etc. And these people had much more of a record that would inspire "hope" and "change" from Bush's record.

All his illegally accrued power now has the weight of precedent on its side. And nobody gives up power, it has to be taken. So now we have a president who, if not imperial, is certainly impervious. We have made damn sure that there is NOTHING that is an impeachable offense.

So how is it strange that the incoming president practices Bushlike policies and behaviors?

5. Some of us thought the election meant we'd do a complete180 from Bush.

Some were just relieved that another election wasn't stolen.

Some were glad we'd elected the first AA president.

Some just thought he was smart, cool, and capable, unlike W.

Lots of reasons to celebrate and hope at the time. It was fun while it lasted.
