5. There are not 3480 killed in Iraq... It's not the correct number
That's the point.

You're peddling false information.

7. Link please
Edited on Mon Apr-23-07 10:49 AM by alcibiades_mystery
I'll continue to say that your number is false. As such, you are disseminating false information.

And don't give me the plain DoD link. I looked there. Your number is nowhere to be found. Please provide a specific link to the number 3480.

Thank you.

9. You can't provide it because it's not there
The number of US service personnel killed in Iraq is 3323, not 3480.

You will never provide a link to that data, because it is currently false. So, you're spreading false information.

12. In either case, you're wrong
Edited on Mon Apr-23-07 11:08 AM by alcibiades_mystery
Since the combined Iraq/Afghanistan number is 3704 (i.e., 3323+381).

Or are you going to come up with a new excuse for your false information now?

You can't seem to be truthful about anything, can you? Just admit it. You posted false information, and now you're too proud to retract it. Still waiting on that link, boss.

16. Your own links prove you wrong
The NY Times currently has the dead at 3290, not 3480, for Iraq.

http://www.nytimes.com/ref/us/20061228_3000FACES_TAB2.html

Since over 350 have been killed in Afghanistan, your total still doesn't work.

Since you cannot prove the numbers with any links, and I can provie my point, it would seem that you're just plain wrong.

Here are the numbers:

www.icasualties.org

Click the tab for Afghanistan to get the total.

You're just wrong about this. That your source is "the guy who posted the youtube," you're even troublingly wrong.

18. So?
Edited on Mon Apr-23-07 12:05 PM by alcibiades_mystery
He's wrong, you're wrong, and the numbers confirm it.

Job title doesn't give you license to lie about facts, and facts don't change according to job title.

You still have posted one piece of evidence that would confirm your claim. What was your source's methodology for arriving at that number? How current is that number? Where is that number coming from. Since you have posted at least three distinct explanations (all of which proved false), I suspect you have no idea. The only conclusion is that you continue to believe that number, in the face of obviously contradictory evidence gathered in an objective manner, simply because you want to.

20. I trust objective evidence
Edited on Mon Apr-23-07 12:16 PM by alcibiades_mystery
You trust one man's word. You don't need to know me. That's the difference. I posted objectively verifiable facts. They have nothing to do with me as a person. They just aARE, like the grand canyon just IS.

That's the difference between you and me. My position is objectively verifiable, drawn from evidence collected with a clear methodology. Your opinion is based on feelings and subjective trust. My position holds to facts. Your opinion traffics in vague beliefs and dogma.

Your number is wrong. Period. As a factual matter, you cannot support it. You don't even know where your source is getting information. You just believe it. Fine. That's a fine religion you have there, but it is not an objectively verifiable way of determining facts. You are spreading false information, in other words, just as i initially claimed. And, when faced with objectively verifiable information that refutes your false claim, you continue to peddle it. We have a word for that too, but I'm too keen on the rules here (unlike yourself) to use it.

The strange part is that your source is the one low-balling the number. The actual number of US service personnel killed in Iraq and Afghanistan for the date range listed is 3667, not 3480. Your source lowballs it by almost 200.
