Terry Tempest Williams writes about prairie dogs in her latest book. I heard her speak in Cambridge, MA - she decribed how they come out of their burrows in the morning and face the sun in that position for a few minutes. When they return at the end of the day, just before sunset, they again face the sun in that same position.
