Warm winds blow and spring twigs snap. Inevitable, the horizon, waiting to attack.
I sense a storm coming with all my inner eyes. A reckoning, at last, for man's evil and lies.
Such potential to be lost Greed chosen over love, disaster the cost.
Two paths of the river are apparent in our time. We could have chosen better. Life and compassion, not "give me what's mine!"
The storm that is coming will change our world's face. Maybe we'll be worthy to still have a place.
The wheel always turns but our destiny is a choice. For good to prevail it needs a stronger voice.
I fear we leave our children a graveyard to create A monument to lost hope, and greed, and hate.
Still, teach them well, about love and what's right. Tell them of the times hope kept us warm on cold nights.
No more easy ride, time to stand or hide. Fight the storm or run, but don't lose your pride.
Those with honor and goodness in their souls Will be counted for their roles.
However small. If there's anyone to count at all. S

12. "Sherlock Holmes and the Voice of Terror." |
|
That was one of the movies that time-warped Holmes and Watson to the 1940's, where they fought against Nazis. I ran it a couple of times while it was in our station's film library. I can almost quote it from heart (excuse any errors, please).
At the end, after the Nazi threat was defeated - at the cost of the life of a whore who loved her country enough to take a bullet for it - Holmes looked at the sky through the ruins of a church. "There's a cold wind coming from the east," he said.
Watson, of course, misunderstood. "It's refreshingly warm, Holmes, and it's coming from the south." Of course, he didn't understand the metaphor, and Holmes patiently explained it.
"Nevertheless, there's a cold wind coming. And many of us may wither before it. But it's God's wind, Watson. And in its wake, a better, stronger, land of freedom will someday thrive."
Couldn't help but think of that, with this talk of coming storms.

13. Here is my favorite poem of hope, by Ho Chi Minh from his Prison Poems |
|
GOOD DAYS COMING
Everything changes, the wheel of the law turns without pause.
After the rain, good weather.
In the wink of an eye
The universe throws off its muddy cloths.
For ten thousand miles the landscape
Spreads out like a beautiful brocade.
Gentle sunshine. Light breezes. Smiling flowers,
Hang in the trees, amongst the sparkling leaves,
All the birds sing at once.
Men and animals rise up reborn.
What could be more natural?
After sorrow comes happiness.
