It was disconcerting to see what a mini-freeper my little 7th grade cousin was.
This was at a big Christmas dinner on the day after Christmas. This kid's parents (my aunt and uncle) are fundies and despise Obama and send him to a Christian school. All their kid (my 13 year old nephew) could talk about to his cousin was how Obama was going to bring about the end of the world with nuclear war. WTF? On and on non-stop. His cousin (my other nephew) is in the 9th grade and finally had to tell him, at the dinner table, to shut UP about Obama and politics at our Christmas dinner. This is 9th grader to the 7th grader. I blame his parents for the kid being wound up Fox-Noise style about current events in the first place. I feel bad for the kid. Who does this to their kid? Very sad.

Afterward, I went up to my nephew who had finally told him to can the political talk and said, "is that all he talks about, even when the grown-ups aren't around?" and he said, "yes, he's too weird."

My SO later said, "he's probably being programmed to blow up abortion clinics later in life."

Damn. It's a crying shame what parents do to their kids.

Glad I only see these freaks once a year. The rest of my family is pretty sane.

2. What is so sad is seeing how far right my nephews and nieces are!
Every last one of them is a far right reactionary. All of them hate Obama with a passion. So sad.

3. my cousins are 7 and 5 and too young to understand politics, but
I expect within the next several years they will be spouting off about how evil Obama and the Democrats are. Their dad(my uncle) is a far right lunatic who makes Glenn Beck look like a sane, reasonable, human being. My aunt(who plays the good, submissive, wife to a tee) is homeschooling the 7 year old so she can teach her the Earth is only 6,000 years old, gays are evil, and wives are to submit to their husbands. My cousins are two of the sweetest, most adorable kids you could ever meet. I hate to think of what they'll be like in a few years after all the right wing indoctrination from my uncle. It makes me sad. :(

grandson was surfing for porn on her computer on Christmas. She was shocked and dismayed. When I told her that there were no 12-year-old boys who didn't surf for porn every chance they get, she said, that boys didn't do that when she was young. I had to remind her that opportunities were somewhat limited in those days.

My wife's sister casually installed a parental control program for her, so now, my MiL has to enter a password every time she visits her hometown newspaper. I guess I'll have to go over and customize the settings a bit.

My suggestion that she close the door to the room where her computer is and ban the brat from the room wasn't a big hit, either.

Times change...people rarely do...
