Because ...... what? No one can estimate the progress of the flight with a fucking wrist watch?

The point is, if you're wanting to blow up a plane and inflict damage on the ground, you can look out the window and see where you are. It's not that difficult. Turning off the TV screens isn't going to make a lot of difference.
