They should take these numbers as an indicator that Americans think bipartisanship is for losers, and that they need to veer sharply left if they want to avoid a disastrous midterm.

Polls are meaningless. Reagan was in much the same position as Obama is in now due to the 81-83 recession and by November '84 the economy was recovering and jobs were being created and he won in a landslide.
