Results are very depressing
I just took this quiz and got a perfect score. Thank you, DU! Please take the quiz and check out the results. Sad, but I guess not surprising.

1. What is the quiz about?
Edited on Mon Jan-18-10 09:36 AM by MineralMan
Words are free. Use as many as you need.

4. I thought the URL would give it away
Sorry about that! It's a political/current events quiz. It asks 12 questions about who's who in government and what's going on in the news today.

5. Me, too. Scary isn't it?
Although numbers are hard for me, and I can understand why people wouldn't know the head of the Fed.

7. It really is sad, isn't it?
I should've looked on the results page to see how many people took it. It only asks for age, gender, and education, so I'd be interested to see if they show a breakdown of the results.

3. Geezus
Only 2% got all the answers right.

I was one of them too, but only because I took a
similar test not too long ago so I had already
had a chance to correct a couple of misperceptions
about the number of troops in Afghanistan and
the amount spent on health care per capita.

9. Yes, I wasn't sure about Afghanistan
I didn't know if the increase in troops would be included, but I did get that one right.

13. I guessed wrong
But I'm sure my answer (150,000) will be right if Obama keeps on the way he is going. Or if you count all the "contractors".

14. That was the one I really had to think about
and accounting for the contractors never even occurred to me. I knew it was a low number, compared to Iraq, and wasn't sure if the "new" 30,000 was included.

6. Wow I got all questions correct, I bet people that
watch Faux are in the 3 or 4 range. Probably many of them could only answer the Glenn Beck question.

11. The rest of the world usually pays more attention to our country
than we do! A little while back, The Daily Show did "man on the street" interviews with Iraqi citizens about US history & political figures past and present. They also asked questions of "men on the street" in this country. The Iraqis blew us away!!

12. Missed on only one answer, still not so bad
But yeah...pretty scary that so many Americans are so utterly clueless about what's going on.

Even scarier, I have a sister who probably doesn't even know who's President.

Seriously.

16. I Got the Dow Answer Wrong
Probably because I purposely ignore it. It pisses me off that thousands are unemployed but the dow should be used as a measuring stick!

17. 10 here. I was wrong about Afghanistan and wrong about the Dow Jones...
(the latter is doubtless because in the UK we use a different index, the FTTSE.)

There are one or two that I might not have known if not for DU!

20. 12 of 12
That curve really points out blissful ignorance on the part of the American people. Truly sad. I'm reminded of this quote (attributed variously to Alexis de Toqueville, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin...: People will always elect the government they deserve.

missed the health care spending question. Score is above 93% of the public. That so many are poorly informed of current events is sad. :(
