and, if the situation had been reversed, I would have wanted Franken to fight it down the bitter end.
Delaying seating Brown without a really good reason is just stupid and will only hurt the party more in the long run.

Delaying his seating will not help. Getting perceived as whining cheaters trying to game the system, particularly in light of Ed Schultz's saying he would stuff a ballot box will hurt us in every close election in Nov. This gets dragged out it will be like picking at stitches on your arm instead of letting it heal. Reopen the wound get it infected and watch a minor injury become a major one

If there are irregularities, make sure Mass deals with it. But to not seat him as some sort of response to Franken's delay is ridiculous. I understand the desire to get the repukes back, but let's not stoop to their level. Especially let's not stoop to the level of calling each other names here.

In fact, one was installed President via lawsuit. Remember? I see the Repubs delaying Franken have had real blowback for them as well. On your planet maybe, but not earth.

You will waste your time dancing around the meat of your "opinion": That a small number people on the left are saying "FUCK YOU, WE _WILL_ HAVE OUR WAY EVEN IF IT MEANS BEING IMMORAL OR DISHONEST OR BREAKING THE LAW!!!111" Progressives are NONE of those and for ANYONE (YOU) to advance such an asinine "opinion" only shows how out of touch with the Democrat party and Progressives you are. but there's nothing to work with here. The margin was too high, the votes were (apparently) counted, and our candidate has conceded.

At the very least they should take the maximum allowable time to certify. No reason to rush and they'd be perfectly legally entitled to do this. Dot all the "i's". In the meantime, if HCR is passed, oh well. Them's the breaks. Whiners will whine regardless.

79. Way to make Limbaugh look like a genius |
|
This is all he has been saying for weeks. If the Dems lose the senate race they will delay seating Brown till after the Health Care bill is passed. This would make the dems look very petty. Worse than that it would validate what Rush Limbaugh has been saying, and would actually give him more credibility and effectiveness in spewing his hate all over the airwaves.

|
Seriously. Delaying his seating the maximum allowable time (what? A few weeks compared to how long they delayed Franken?), would be nothing and have NO blowback whatsoever except for the whiners. And who cares about those dipshits?
Sadly, it looks like it probably won't happen anyway. Oh well.

|
It's not just Limbaugh listeners. Petty politics has a way of going viral very quickly. Even people who don't listen to politics on a daily basis are still very aware that the Democrats are struggling to get health care bill passed in the senate. If the Democrats were to make a political issue out of Brown's victory and refuse to seat him this could cary over into the mid-term elections and even into the next presidential election. Not a good thing at all.

No way around that. A totally legit period of time before seating, like a few weeks, would be just too inconsequential. Yeah, there would be a bit of noise and whining. IMO, of course.

Apparently critical thinking is an ability beyond the intellectual grasp of some. Especially those that express their "intellectual superiority" by yelling "FUCK YOU" at fellow Americans when stating their (ahem) opinions.
Oh and do not forget the "Your Mother" thang!
"Hey everybody!!!111 Look how brilliant I am, I just made a vile sexual innuendo laced comment about your mother!" "If you do not agree with me then YOU are DaaayUmm!!!111"

Or did you not know that? Nothing else matters now. She conceded the race.
Now, what would you use as an excuse to keep from seating him? Al Franken? That MIGHT work, had Norm Coleman conced THAT race.

93. Coakley is not only inept but stupid too |
|
Coakley to me seems like stupider than Sarah Palin. She not only lost but relented too. Atleast as a courtesy of running a sorry ass like her she could have atleast thrown in some legal hurdles againt brown. To me she appears like a candidate from RNC. I won't be surprised if she runs as a NEOCON in 2012

Margin too large. Coakley already thrown in the towel. Prescedent already set, when Teddy was seated within a day of his special election.

Just because the Repubs will whine.
If they've got 2 weeks to certify, take that long. No need to rush. If HCR passes in the interim. Oh well, thems the breaks.

Edited on Tue Jan-19-10 11:17 PM by Beetwasher
But then again, I'm an asshole. But I also want what's best for the country, and that means getting the best HCR passed that we can. If that means some whining by the Repubs because we're not seating their guy quick enough, just remind them of Al Franken and tell them to go sit on a stick. That's the the game.
No one listens to me though. And probably with good reason.
