http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/4/24/1029/12115We are the UNO Democrats. Today, we humbly ask you to pay Tribute To The Fallen.
Last night, we prepared a field of 3,332 American flags, each flag representing one life lost in Iraq. Today, we read the names of those individuals, the brave men and women of our armed forces who gave their lives for our country.
Since the invasion of Iraq, over 3,000 American lives have been lost. Each of them had a name, a life, a family. On the early morning of Tuesday April 25th, we began the process of paying tribute to them. Late the night before a field of 2,400 flags, placed in straight rows, took shape. Starting before dawn, the list of names began, name, rank, hometown, we read until late in the evening, each name read only once. We couldn’t stop until every name was read and every soldier remembered.
In our group, the UNO College Democrats, we have brothers, sisters, and wives of those serving on the ground in Iraq right now. In our group we have members of the Army, sons and daughters of veterans, and future enlistees. We are fiercely patriotic. We have those who opposed the war, and those who supported it.
But now, all of us, and hopefully all who see the flags, come to
http://www.tributetothefallen.com/, hear this message, are united to pay tribute to those who have given their lives.
If you pray, please pray for the fallen and their families today. If not, use this chance to pause, remember and respect those same soldiers, patriots.
Wonder what the Young Republican Chickenhawks are up to today?
