1. Bottom line: She was unconscious from the moment the IED hit |
|
Not sure about the 'puncture wounds' they were referring to, other than they were not bullet wounds. She didn't go on a Rambo spree shooting her gun and killing the enemy like they first put out.

3. Lynch was part of a convoy that was attacked by Iraqis. |
|
She was captured, taken to an iraqi hospital for treatment, the Iraqis tried to return her to the Americans in an ambulance, the Americans shot at the ambulance which had to retreat back to the hospital, several days later the Americans raided the hospital, sticking up doctors and nurses at gunpoints, grabbed Lynch and took off, then made themselves out to be heroes who rescued Lynch from certain death from the hands of those dirty, swarthy Iraqis, because that's how well the Iraq War is going. Now shut up and support the troops and President Bush.

8. Bornagain has it pretty much right, but to add a bit more . . . |
|
After the attempted return of Lynch to the occupiers was rebuffed with gunfire hospital employees let them know where she was and her condition. The retrieval was delayed until a military film crew could bet ready. The "daring rescue" was filmed in night vision amid much shouting, crouching, running and John Wayne style antics. There were no Iraqi soldiers in the area, they had all left days before. When she was returned stateside she was basically isolated and some "unidentified" military types spun the tale of a heroic battle with Jessica being stabbed with a bayonet and shot. Actually she broke a leg and some ribs in the accident and was treated better than Iraqis in the same hospital.
When Bush first took office one of the Pentagon's pet projects was the Office of Strategic Information, a group that would plant misinformation in the foreign media. We were assured that it wouldn't operate inside the US but when queried about how it would keep foreign media from influencing domestic media they "shut it down". Wink, wink, nod, nod.
Later we found that public information officers were writing news articles for Iraqi newspapers and paying to have them published and then we had the Jessica Lynch and Pat Tillman stories.
It seems the SIO didn't really stop operations after all.

13. Horrific car wreck-Humvee hitting a tanker at about 45MPH |
|
Edited on Wed Apr-25-07 01:42 PM by underpants
as they came out of a cloud of smoke suddenly a jackknifed tanker truck was in front of them. No time to react. 6 people were in the Humvee Lynch and her best friend actually survived (everyone else was dead on impact) and the other soldiers (Shoshana and Pfc. Miller) were sure they were all dead-yeah it was that bad. Lynch didn't lose her legs out of a medical miracle.

9. Ms. Lynch was knocked unconscious and denied a chance to prove |
|
her heroism on the field of battle; but she stood up to a lying Administration and military-industrial complex which had tried to fashion her into a modern-day Horst Wessel for propaganda purposes, demonstrating moral courage far beyond the heroism falsely attributed to her.
Here's to Jessica Lynch, a hero, indeed!

10. Hapless young woman soldier is in an outfit that got lost during the push to Baghdad. |
|
They took some fire that caused the truck she was riding in to crash. In the crash she was fairly seriously injured.
Friendly Iraqis rescued her and took her to an Iraqi hospital for treatment--by all accounts, excellent treatment. These Iraqis tried to find US soldiers to return her to the US, but they were behind the "lines." With the invasion going on all around them, it took awhile for the Americans to "liberate" this area.
Meanwhile, the invading US military, working closely with the bush cabal, saw an opportunity for a PR story line to feed to the American people through the compliant corporate cabal-controlled media, so they made up a story about her bravely fighting off attackers, wounded in battle, finally overcome and dragged off for interrogation and no doubt violation by the evil infidel Iraqis. The PR guys probably figured she was dead, so if they ever found her ravaged body, they'd be able to make up whatever story they wanted anyway, so why not "Rambo" it up?
Unfortunately for the US military PR guys, the bush cabal and the compliant media, she wasn't dead after all and she wasn't a captive at all. The friendly Iraqis returned her to the US military and gradually the truth came out.
When an illegal invasion is based on lies, it requires an ever-growing web of lies to sustain it. This was one of them.

12. A minor incident that demonstrated how willing the Iraqis were to let |
|
us fix the problem we created (Hussein), that the cabal in DC tried to turn into a justification for their criminality, by creating a myth about heroic adventures and the "inherent superiority of The American Fighting Forces". Even the Wikipedia article still has vestiges of the lies told about her ordeal.
The plain facts are; they got lost, they were blowed up and the survivors captured by Iraqi regulars who subsequently took her to a hospital, the hospital patched her up as best they could and attempted to turn her over to American forces who fired on them, they took her back to the hospital and sometime later the American came for her.
There was no "rescue", there was no battle after the initial contact that resulted in 11 deaths and her and at least one other survivor being taken prisoner (a black woman that we never heard about because she was far less photogenic than Jessica), there were no "heroics". What there was, was an attempt to turn a minor incident into a massive PR campaign and justification for our colossal fuck-up and war of aggression against an utterly helpless enemy, which we created at every step in the whole sordid history.

Edited on Wed Apr-25-07 01:55 PM by yella_dawg
Wasn't that the story that caused her to go public in the first place?
Maybe I've confused this with other propaganda from BFEE.

19. you can see the staged "rescue" on youtube |
|
they fire their guns at no one in the background and scare the shit out of her.
The doctors told the BBC the Iraqi Army was long gone, and Lynch's testimony yesterday seemed to back up their words far more than the White House's.
