8. Great metaphor. I hadn't thought of that, but it really fits.
I'm old. I'm so damn tired of fighting for a decent chance for the ordinary citizen to get a fair shake in this country. Since nothing I've done has really helped, I guess I should just get out of the way.

14. I think I'd like some good 'shrooms, myself.
Was always more into the psychedelics than the opiates.

9. Not to worry. With the country in the shape it's in, I won't last much longer.

I'll try to use my last bit of strength to move further north, so I can catch an ice floe (if global warming hasn't melted them all) to float away on.

27. In my case, with the shape I'm in, I won't last much longer, either.
Folks who have always gotten on my case should be thankful instead, I'll save them tons of money.

Ever been a smoker? Check.
Had too many drinks? Check.
Too many pounds on the hips? Check.

I'll be doing them a favor by checking out at a fairly early age! Now if I were a life-long non-smoker, thin as a rail, only drank carrot juice and lived to be 95, what a drain on society I would be.

28. Yup. I'm with you on that.
People ought to be falling to their knees and thanking us for living so heedlessly -- smoking and drinking and not joining gyms like proper yuppies.

We don't do it to be self-indulgent, we do it to improve the future prospects of the younger folks.

30. That's right.
Plus I've always been a pain in the ass, and only becoming more cantankerous as I go along. On my checklist I forgot all the goodies from the 1960s... mainly acid, for me.

I remember sitting on the side of a canal in Amsterdam back then, looking at a tree, seeing each separate leaf glow in the most magnificent colors. Would have fallen in the water, had it not been for my boyfriend.

13. Who knew it would be "Logan's Run" and the age would be 85?
We are headed to a time when some cubicle dweller at a health insurer's office will code your account so that only absolutely necessary health care is extended to you. Once you are coded as "past his actuarial chart," you're on the fast track out.

15. Saving Social Security by dying asap
Now really, you cannot do that. It will be impossible for anyone to die unless they have individual written permissions from the new owners of our nation: Insurance Companies, Major Corporations, and The IRS. After all, without the middle class boomers and seniors they would surely go broke. We will probably see a cabinet appointee and staff to handle death requests. I guess this is what the Mayans foresaw: the end of our form of government and democracy. Our government has become extremely corrupted.

I'm sure that if I file my request with the appropriate agencies, I'll be able to meet the DEADline. :D

23. Well, with the state of health care and the insurance racket, that sounds like a real
possibility for a lot of boomers. I'm Gen X, so thanks for that, I guess. Of course, we may be dying out with you, who knows.

34. And we need to be considerate about it too...
We need to die neatly so we can provide food for those we leave behind.

To hell with Soylent Green...I wanna be crunchy granola bars.
