How is it difficult to govern with a sixteen seat majority in the
Senate and a 70 plus majority in the House.
Bush had no problem governing with much less - STFU David Gregory - ReTHUGS are still a fugging minority :puke:

1. Because a lot of our Dems are not really Dems, and vote consistently with the other side.
Wolves in sheep's clothing.

2. No, they don't vote "consistently" with the other side
It only seems like that. I read that even traitor Joe has voted with Democratic issues well over 50 percent of the time. It's just that he screwed us so bad on the one thing that most people really care about.

Someone (Reid ?) needs to figure out how to run the Senate and get things done. Granted, the 60 votes needed to end debate is fucked up, but if the repukes want to vote against ending debate then Reid needs to and make them stay there and debate. Let them read from the phone book for days at a time so the American people can see who's really screwing things up. Don't just let them announce that they'll fillibuster something and give them a pass on it.

3. Bush was able to rule because of Republican discipline and with the help of Senate Democrats
who went along his programs. Otherwise, Democrats could certainly have done what Republicans are doing now because they had the 41 votes need to stop cloture. Bush got along with a little help from his Democratic friends.

4. Reid Is Over His Head...
Has been since he became Majority leader. He's tried to placate rather than lead and has been used like an old pair of shoes. President Obama's attempt to let the legislative legislate has failed cause Reid has let a few vainglorious and paid-for Senators step all over him as he tries to make everyone a "happy family". Reid could have a 99 seat majority and one Senator could still put a hold or gum up the works. I used to admire the Senate as a place where "cooler heads prevailed" and there were some voice of reason in both parties. Those days are long gone but Reid still "doesn't get it".

As far as Stretch...here's hoping Zucker is looking at his failed ratings and pulls a Leno on him.

:hi:

5. It's only difficult to pass meaningful reform.
They're doing just fine fiddling with half-assed corporatist non-solutions. And going through motions--they're really good at that.
