I hope someone can answer this |
|
I have a secondary account at gmail. It was hacked and someone is sending emails in my name to everyone in my address book. I have gone to google and checked to see how to permanently delete this account. Twice. Twice I have followed the instructions to the letter. I have even gone to the area where it says to delete gmail as my default when I click on a link to send an email. NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WORKS.
It does sign me out of gmail. But it does not delete the account and it still goes to gmail by default. And of course, I can't send emails at that particular time as I signed out of google. I have gone over every page every answer, every thing. I can not find any other way to even contact google. I am thinking of contacting a lawyer and getting them to write a letter saying I am going to sue because they dont have a way to delete this account. Even tho I have signed out and google help says I permanently deleted the account IT ISN'T SO. And since my number one account with my IP is in the address book I still get the asinine email. Is there anybody anybody at all that can tell me how to contact google or delete this darn email account.
I am telling everyone if you ever get a gmail address beware. You are stuck with it. And it takes over as your main email by default.

First thing you do is change the password to one that has upper & lower case letters, numbers & symbols... something that wouldn't show up in a dictionary.
Your Inbox may have your spam now. Your Spam box may have your actual email. You can read them there.
Now, open a new gmail account with another username & a tricky new password. Then, write to all your contacts, apologize for any inconvenience & give them the new email address.
It happened to me & it was a nightmare for a few days. Now, everything's fine.
Good luck!
