Cops: U.D. students assaulted teacher

By LINDA REILLY
Times Correspondent

UPPER DARBY — Two Upper Darby High School coeds are facing assault charges for allegedly punching a teacher who tried to separate them during a cat fight.

Venessa Letts, 18, of the 7200 block of Clinton Road, Upper Darby, and a 17-year-old, of Upper Darby, were removed from the school, 601 Lansdowne Ave., at the beginning of the class day.

Police responded to the school 9 a.m. Jan. 29 for a report of an alleged assault on a teacher who suffered a bloody nose.

“The victim stated she heard yelling in the hallway and went to investigate,” Detective Susan McSorley wrote in the affidavit. “The victim attempted to break up the fight when she was punched in the nose and back of the head by both. As a result the victim was bleeding from the nose and believes it could possibly be broken.”

The teacher was taken to Delaware County Memorial Hospital for treatment......

This sounds more like a knock-down-drag-out to me. I am sure that when this teacher was in college, she never thought she'd see the day when a couple of students would break her nose and punch her in the back of the head.

1. I would never try to break up a fight
especially between two teenage girls.

who refuses to step in and break up fights between girls. Guys will usually call it quits once they've established who's where in the pecking order. Females will fight until they're pulled apart, and then it's likely they'll turn on the peacemaker.

4. No, it's not a cat fight if there's no cats involved.
I am familiar with British idiom, as well as British idiots.

I'll stop before I become the small end.
