Jenny Sanford: What A Dope
In general, I have a low opinion of women who "stand by their man" when their man is a politician who can't seem to keep his pants on. But I often cut them some slack in those moments because it's a huge shock, they don't know what to do at the moment, but the 24-Hour News Cycle demands some kind of statement.

But Jenny Sanford? Wife of Mark "Hiking the Appalachian Trail" Sanford?

What a dope.

In her new book, Mrs. Sanford reveals the following:

Sanford recalls how she made the "leap of faith" to marry husband Gov. Mark Sanford even though the groom refused to promise to be faithful, insisting that the clause be removed from their wedding vows.

So you didn't see that coming, Jenny? They man you were about to marry specifically demanded that the word "faithful" be removed from your wedding vows and today you're shocked -- SHOCKED I TELLS YA -- to learn that he was banging somebody else?

You're a dope.

11. Worse than fundie; Mark Sanford is Christian Mafia (The Family).
He is associated with The C Street House gang (Washington, DC) .. aka "The Family."

6. She was young and stupid and thought the combination
of love and her money would change him. That was her leap of faith.

Woops. Well, Jenny, at least he was honest in that regard, admitting he would be a faithless rat of a husband before you got to the altar. Odd how he thought he'd go to hell for breaking a vow but not for fucking everything that would hold still long enough.

Fundie doublethink is amazing.

7. If Jenny didn't get a pre-nup, she is a bigger dope.
Jenny Sanford comes from a wealthy family. Her grandfather founded the Skil Corp., which manufactures power tools. Another grandfather ran a large Chicago law firm. She graduated from Georgetown University and was a vice president for the Wall Street investment banking firm Lazard Freres & Co. in the 1980s. She met Mark Sanford in New York, where he also worked on Wall Street.

They married in 1989 and moved to South Carolina, where Sanford worked in real estate before serving three terms in Congress. Jenny Sanford ran his campaigns.

It is unknown whether the Sanfords have a prenuptial agreement. Mark Sanford had a comfortable, even affluent upbringing but doesn’t appear to have nearly the family wealth that his wife has. It would have been smart of Jenny Sanford and her family to protect that wealth in some manner – either through a prenuptial agreement or a trust.

But I hear through the upstate SC grapevine that she did have a pre-nup. I sure hope that is true.

12. Did Sanford become born again before or after they got married? I can't believe
a born again "Christian" would have trouble promising faithfulness. He is repug scum isn't he. And she is stupid, plain and simple.

13. Why did they move to SC if they both had good jobs in NY?
It doesn't appear that either had any ties to SC prior to them moving there.

14. Hat's off to to Mark for being honest up front. Hat's off to Jenny for
accepting the honesty of his stance and marrying him. I don't nor have I ever believed that people are successful in the whole monogamy routine, at least not generally in the USA. We all need to friggin' get real about love and sex and quit putting these ridiculous judgments on everyone regarding them.

But then again, I'm one of those evil, liberal, atheists so I get to look at life through clear, well focused glasses, rather than the god-fearing, one man/ one woman propaganda most of USA grips to.

15. I knew a gal that married a guy that admitted to getting a BJ
Edited on Wed Feb-03-10 12:39 PM by Javaman
from a stripper the night before they were married. He told her the morning of the day they were to be married. She still had time to pull the rip cord, but didn't.

Kind of starts things off on a very bizarre and strange foot.

He stated, I want to start off our marriage by being totally honest. Wow.

Needless to say, the marriage crashed and burned a short time later.
