I volunteered there today along with about 1100 other folks from CT, NY, MA, VA, CO to name a few states I saw on name-tags. I worked with high school kids, college kids and retirees in addition to health care professionals. I left about 5 PM and at that point over 800 patients had registered and the patient entrance area was empty. We did our best to keep them moving along through the system and I hope that they didn't feel they had to wait too long.
I want to thank everyone who made a donation that made this clinic possible. Among other things your contributions paid for the venue, parking for the volunteers, coffee and tea and sandwiches and cookies for us.
NAFC did a great job of organizing and coordinating this clinic. Overall, it ran very smoothly with very few glitches.
I'm pooped and my feet hurt ( I was a "runner").

while offering free health care in Hartford to the uninsured/underinsured, you were surrounded by all the very big insurance companies.
As a CT native, a resident of a Hartford suburb and an employee of one of CT's big human service non-profits, I thank you.

7. A nurse who joined me at meal break said she thought |
|
several of the people she worked with were homeless. She said the one person she couldn't get out of her mind was the young woman who they thought had lung cancer. She was going to be referred to a clinic for further testing and for treatment. I hope she will be able to get the care she needs. I saw 2 people being taken out by ambulance. They didn't appear to be in distress (no oxygen masks,no CPR) so I think they were being taken to a hospital for tests that we couldn't do there.
