Arianna Huffington...Teabagger Sympathizer? |
|
I guess she's going back to her Repuk roots. Her site has officially jumped the shark. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-tv/arianna-video_b_451760.html

1. there are some commonalities between teabagger complaints and those of |
|
Dems/progressives, but the interventions/solutions differ greatly.

3. I agree with her assessment: |
|
Arianna believes that while the fringe elements of the tea party movement may be garnering the biggest headlines, the group is based on substantive concerns about the decline of the middle-class.
(I didn't watch the vid, but just read the paragraph)
I think we have a lot in common with many of them (and so does Thom Hartmann, by the way) but I do think there's a BIG difference. We're not racists.

4. They're concerned with the decline of the white middle class |
|
Speak for yourself. I have nothing in common with them.

5. There are as many racist on the left as there are on the right |
|
They just express themselves in different ways. Trust me, some of my "liberal" friends with money would not be all that happy if certain people moved into the neighborhood.

11. Yeah, good point about 'there goes the neighborhood' attitude. And I bet they |
|
voted for Obama.
I honestly think so many people just don't recognize the racism in themselves.

6. The Tea Baggers are an angry mob |
|
that isn't quite sure what the hell they are angry about, they just know that they aren't doing well economically.
She is correct in her assessment. I would not want to be an incumbent in either party this year running for office, it is going to be more difficult than previous years.

12. When I went to a tea party last spring, this is what they were angry about. |
|
They were angry that Obama was going to take their guns away, that he wasnt an American Citizen, that his plan for America was White Slavery. They all thought he was a socialist, some thought he was an Islamic Terrorist. And Most of all, they were infuriated at Obama raising their taxes (which of course was complete Bullshit)

13. I'm no defender of the Tea Baggers |
|
However, you do realize that most white lower class racism is based on 200 years of rich whites telling them it was the other's fault that they can't have things.

16. I am Southern and White(or mostly), but I realized |
|
a long time ago that it was the rich whites using divisive tactics to keep their boot on our throats. In fact a lot of us do. It is the loud rude white idiots who seem to think they are somehow better than people of color. I also know those same bigots are not as lily white as they would like to think they are, then again I have done a lot of genealogy research too(9th generation Virginia/WestVirginia), I would guess that does make a difference.
The teabaggers I have met are pissed off that they are not in charge as in ruling class. I don't want to be in charge but I sure as hell would like to be a bit better off since we no longer are really middle class we po' and I am really tired of having to do with out necessities not things like the latest ipod or this years car, I mean being able to repair the roof that really needs to be replaced, or fixing our 12 yr old trucks motor so we can this farm. I would like to be as well off as we were 10 20 yrs ago and that was no great shakes. I don't care who is in charge as long as the job is done right and we get the corpses out of our government. They yammer about 'taking back our country from Obama and the blacks when we need to take it back from the corpses.
We went into a restaurant in Danville that Sen Obama had visited while campaigning. I had asked the waitress if she was there she said "no I left, I could not stand the thought of dealin with him" a minute later she said " I could never vote for a n..." and kind of trailed off at n. I wanted to leave then, but partner said we will pay for the food we might as well eat it. The waitress never came back to our table, we ate and left and have not returned, since that seems to be a prevailing attitude at that place.

9. If wild ranting at made up bullshit |
|
against this Administration is the basis for having something in common with Teabaggers, then yes, Arianna and most of the rest of the left has a lot in common with them. And that ought to give them cause for concern, not jumping in bed with the lunatics.
