Frankly, I don't TRUST America enough to be ok with Palin running |
|
Given Scott Brown's victory, there are just too many unthinking, reactive idiots out there for comfort. Rationally, there is no way she should be within the first 1,000,000 people eligible for the job, but America is not rational.

3. if she were running against an unknown Democrat |
|
that I didn't know or trust I might be given pause. But against Barack Obama?
Can you picture them debating each other? He would demolish her without mercy.
I don't care how low Obama's approval rating goes, he is an excellent campaigner. He will win 2012 against any Republican I can think of.

12. That makes sense but.... |
|
Palin appeals to people who see intellect as arrogance and ignorance as common sense. And remember people said Reagan and Bush Jr were too stupid to get elected.

but they also ran brilliant campaigns and had the Cheney, Bush Sr, Baker, etc CIA and Defense Dept cabal pulling strings on their behalf. It's not like they got to office on their own merits. They were "chosen" to lead by very, very powerful people. Palin has some big names in her corner, but nothing like the people propping up Reagan-Bush.

4. It all depends on whether the gop gets into desparation mode again |
|
and throws everything they have into her candidacy like they did with W. If she runs as an independent she could splinter the gop vote. But you're right in that there are scores of reactive dolts out there who'd vote for her in an instant.

5. I'm more than a little worried about that too |

I mean, Bush "won" one election then somehow did not get throw out on his ear. Neither of those two elections should have been anywhere near that close.

6. Yep, all it would take would be one Dem scandal close to the election |
|
(not necessarily having anything to do with Obama) and our media would blow it out of proportion and, Bob's your uncle, Palin gets in.

The sentiment is still there to do something monumentally stupid as to put that tart in the White House.

|
But now...
yeah. I'm like you (and many others, from the looks of it) who just do not trust Americans to vote for sane, intelligent candidates.
Of course, she'd have to get through the Primary first, but if she did, I would be even more afraid to think that many idiots voted for her.

23. Yes, I hear you. Especially since 2000, "teh stupid" always looms, ready to strike. |
|
An example of "teh stupid"?
The young mother who broke down into terrified tears upon learning that the POTUS would be giving a speech of encouragement to students at the beginning of the school year
The birthers who scream, "show us the birth certificate!" after they've just been shown the birth certificate
The teabaggers who howl about high taxes and have no clue their taxes were actually cut
The teabaggers who howl about "special interests and earmarks" but give Stonewall Shelby a pass for holding government hostage to his own earmark demands
And I haven't even gotten to Palin-related "teh stupid" yet
