Portrait of a Teabagger.
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 04:02 PM by Raven
- Fundamentalist Christian (Lutheran sect in my area).
- Home schooler
- In the building and service trades
- Big Amway supporter
- Kids almost never get past HS and girls never do
- Believes in Christian charity for his own folks but everybody else is on their own
- Spends a good amount of time doing "missionary work" in South America
- Doesn't drink or smoke...looks down on people who do, but his kids carry guns, have
sex, drink, smoke and vandalize.
- Hates the cops, hates the government
- Wants to cut police and fire budgets...thinks "it's God's will if your house burns down"
- Makes decent money but is jealous of almost everybody else
- Cuts corners
- Lies
- Considers anyone not of his faith "the other" and disowned a daughter who married outside
- Has a strange fascination with death and sickness...again the "God's will", I think
- Builds crappy homes and never saw a wetland he didn't want to pave
- Thinks his property is supreme but considers other peoples' property fair game for his ATV, snowmobile, dirt bike, dumping...
- Completely believes in self sufficiency but was the first one after the Stim $ and has collected at the food bank, pulling up in his Lexis
- Hard, cold eyes.

14. neither a teabagger nor nervous
Edited on Mon Feb-08-10 04:14 PM by Beam Me Up
it is stereotyping. something commonly found among people who don't think for themselves but the op didn't include on the list, understandably.

ETA: sorry, was replying to #2 and somehow got in the wrong spot.

17. I think the point was to point out the hypocrisy in the Teabagger's position
Made more tragic, really, by the very fact he's "working class" and refuses to acknowledge it, or politically defend his own interests...

20. There's often just as much hypocrisy in the liberal's position
Refusing to acknowledge they are actually working class, and hence also voting against their own interests

22. I believe it was the unique combination of ALL those traits that was the point of the OP
Each characterization in and of itself does not reveal as much as the combination of all of them in one unique individual.

24. Good explanation
An interesting way to see it

(although I don't believe that was actually the OP's point)

25. The teabaggers I know
are mostly college educated and make good money. They seem to have little in the way of empathy for anyone outside their immediate family.

27. Precisely....I remember my Dad, a wonderful, pro-union, FDR Liberal
throwing his hands up at the Repups asking "What's the matter with these people? -- They want everything and they don't want to pay for it"!

I notice that a lot of your points are related to "selfish". Others fall under "immature". But yeah, he's the guy.

18. Not true.
A teabagger at work, who tells us everything Rush said that afternoon at the top of his lungs(expecting us to believe he came up with it) just replaced his old Prius with a brand new Prius. HE says he HATES American car companies. They can't make anything right, and the UAW is full of lazy bums.

He is a CWA member BTW. We got management after him. He yells too much.

13. too particular
the only one i know is a 40 year old EMT, but doesn't get that his livelihood is funded by "socialism". he most recently was singing the hosannahs of his low-low-taxation suburban home, and the snowplows that had been down his cul-de-sac 4 times that day. snowplows are socialism, too.

he doesn't really fit too many of your descriptors otherwise.

tea partiers are the serfs that fought FOR the czar.

cut the service. Had to figure the disconnect.

15. The only thing left off is, votes Republican.
I know the popular meme is that teabaggers are mad at both parties -- but who is their icon? She of the inked hand. Even if Obama gave each of them a winning lotto ticket, I'd bet dollars to doughnuts they'd still vote Republican.
