Why wouldn't the best of the best work out in GD?

They offend sensibilities and question the status quo. They ask(ed) questions many don't (didn't) like to hear. They used SATIRE.

This isn't a statement against anyone or anything. Just a question that might make some think when preconceptions are challenged.

I was actually looking for the comedienne from the 60's and 70's that used to tour with Redd Foxx. She was a blue as blue could get and funny as hell because NOTHING was sacred with her.
