Wisconsin Right to Life: Encourages “act responsibly” this Valentine’s Day
MILWAUKEE, WI, February 11, 2010 . . . Wisconsin Right to Life has kicked-off a national effort to promote personal responsibility, the value of family, and self-esteem this Valentine’s weekend.

Wisconsin Right to Life has created downloadable materials for its “Act Responsibly” campaign, encouraging families, individuals, church groups and schools to use the materials to remind the public that actions can have consequences.

“Valentine’s Day is a great tradition and a fun occasion to celebrate romance,” said Barbara Lyons, Executive Director of Wisconsin Right to Life. “An evening of champagne, chocolates and flowers can have consequences if revelers don’t ‘Act Responsibly.’”

Lyons said states which keep monthly statistics see an increase in the number of abortions during the months of January through April, right after New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day.

“Everyone promotes drinking responsibly on New Year’s Eve and St. Patrick’s Day to prevent deaths,” said Lyons. “We’re taking the same approach to Valentine’s Day, promoting personal responsibility, the value of family, and self-esteem. We, too, don’t want to see an increase in deaths.”

“Personal responsibility is everyone’s responsibility,” said Lyons. “Personal responsibility and strong self-esteem begin at home, with parents teaching their children good values and encouraging young adults to do the right thing.”

11. Well, I will if it will piss them off.
Othewise, I'll just take advantage of my fiance. :-) Who is, by the way, from WI.

5. Personal responsibility is a good choice
So get fucked up but have a designated driver/taxi and use condoms. And for your recreational drug use, a clean set. Personal responsibility.

6. There are a lot of "pro-lifers" who oppose the use of
contraception on moral grounds. And when they protest at abortion clinics, they block women from obtaining contraception. So, I don't think they have much right to tell other people how to act on valentines day.

9. I couldn't find the material on their website.
But from what I read here, I have no problem advocating "personal responsibility." In fact, I support it.

13. They're not promoting contraception, are they?
Surely they know that the major anti-choice organizations want to outlaw that as well.

14. I read this as "don't have sex unless you're married"...
Right to life organizations, ironically, do not promote contraception.

17. Are they giving out condoms?
Because if they're not, they aren't doing dick anything to prevent pregnancies.

18. "promoting personal responsibility, the value of family, and self-esteem"
If they really want to prevent abortion they should be providing the education and the means to have safe sex and prevent pregnancy.
